Marsassoum Wings takes on the challenge of designing architecture in hard constraint and extreme conditions. The competition entry includes an affordable intervention to provide the children of Marsassoum, Senegal, with a new school that can become the new centre of the village life. The project tackles the challenge of extreme weather conditions and the need for innovative ways to achieve self sustainability through the use of simple and affordable construction solutions.
Water Collection System
The curved roof obtained from the bamboo structure gives the characteristic winged shape too the building, but most importantly, it to channel the rainwater that is collected during the wet season.
